This French provincial oak mirror, c. 1700, is richly carved with scrolling foliage, volutes and strapwork, alternating with stylised shells in the Régence style. The antique mercury plate features attractive foxing and is framed by a twisted rope moulding, providing an architectural edge that contrasts with the more fluid outer ornament.
The bold provincial carving, together with the deep brown oak and its natural veining, is set against the fluid movement of the patterning, creating a captivating balance with the weight and grandeur of the late Louis XIV style.

A French giltwood and green-painted mirror in the Empire style, c. 1810, of tall elongated form. Two columns flank the plate, surmounted by a pediment decorated with a rosette and laurel sprigs. The combination of green and gilding highlights the restrained geometry, characteristic of the Empire style. The mirror plate and backing are original, with strong, attractive foxing. An elegant mirror of versatile medium size, combining soft colour with architectural presence.
An early 20th-century Venetian mirror of tapered shape. The bevelled mirror plate is surrounded by a shaped mirrored frame, finished with four foliate elements to the corners and topped by an openwork crest of five foliate scrolls, ending with a shaped finial at the bottom. It is decorated throughout with etched flowers and foliage, as well as fluted glass beads, and finished with an ebonised backing.

A late 19th-century Italian gilt gesso mirror of cartouche form, framed by acanthus and garlands of foliage finished by pronounced volutes, with scrolling feet at the bottom. It is topped by a crest with the winged face of a putto and ribbons.

The frame is decorated with a frieze of oak leaves, acanthus and acorns, with rosettes at each corner. The arched form recalls the early Gothic Revival, while the overall ornament is characteristic of the lighter, more romantic decoration of the Restauration style. The gilt finish is in excellent condition. The mirror plate is original, with a slight mottled appearance.
