Pair of Dutch Delft Polychrome Peony Plates, 18th century

£400.00

A pair of 18th-century Dutch Delft plates, decorated with a stemmed peony surrounded by a tulip, wildflowers and foliage. The composition covers the entire plate, with the peonies opening in lush petals and the stems and tulip following a curve that adds an elegant movement to the design. A bright polychrome palette is rendered in painterly brushwork, with the manganese of the peony set against the yellow of the tulip and the blue of the stems and foliage.

A rare pair of floral plates with vibrant colour, unrestored and in very good condition.
