Moroccan Fez Kashmiri Glazed Dish, Early 20th century

£600.00

An early 20th-century Moroccan glazed ceramic dish from Fez, decorated in the Kashmiri style with boteh motifs filled with scrolls and enclosed in scalloped reserves. These radiate around a foliate star and are surrounded by scrolling patterns. A vibrant palette of deep blue, green, yellow and pink is set on an off-white engobe, and the edge is finished with a frieze of polychrome bands. Impressive in scale, the dish has a wide, flat shape raised on a piédouche foot with two holes for wall-hanging.

Marked ‘Fez’ in Arabic underneath. A rare Moroccan dish with rich, colourful patterns, in very good condition.
