An 18th-century French faience oval dish from Sinceny, of graceful shaped form. It is decorated with a central motif of a bird perched on pomegranates, surrounded by sprays of carnations, foliage and further flowers, the same motifs continuing as a frieze along the lip, finished by colourful lines. Rendered in a vivid palette of yellow, orange, green and blue, the abundance of the flowers and the scrolling movement of the foliage are amplified by the generous spacing of the decoration. A charming piece in excellent condition.
